It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for something you are not. - Andre Gide

It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for something that you are not! It is important to understand that, at times, we try to copy others or pretend to be someone just because we want ourselves to be accepted by others.

This is absolutely wrong! You cannot pretend to be someone, and you should no way be faking in front of others. Doing so might get you accepted for the time being, but it is no way going to help you in the long run of your life.

You should acknowledge the fact that it is better to be hated for something that you are, for that will at least contain the real “you!”

Life will have a lot of turns, and you will probably come across a lot of situations when you would crave for acceptance, but the fact is that you do not need anyone to accept you.

However, if you want to get rid of temporary love and want to keep yourself away from all the hustle-bustle of your life, learn to be something that you are, instead of trying to wear a mask of someone that you are not, for that is not going to make any sense in the long run of your life.

If you are loved for something that you are not, you won’t be able to hold yourself just like that for a long span of time, and that’s simply going to hurt you even more badly over time.

Therefore, you should always try to be real and true to your own self.

Just be the kind of person you are, and ensure that you are amazing just like that, being unique and not trying to pretend anything! Do not worry; the real people are still going to love you that way!
