Anyone can hold the helm when the sea is calm. – Publilius Syrus
Meaning of this Quote
A helm is particularly a tiller or a wheel that is meant for steering a ship. Well, anyone can hold that helm when the sea is calm which simply means that it is easy to put things under control when they are in order.
Situations get worse only when there is a hustle-bustle going around. You do not require a skilled professional when things are already running smoothly. We don’t need to call someone to manage the things around us at good times.
We need help only when there is a mess all around. In general, when the sea remains calm, you do not need to call anybody. However, when there’s a tide, you would need people to come up to you and pull you out of it. The same goes for life as well.
In life, you would probably not look for any kind of assistance when you know that things are already going smooth at your place. The moment you are stuck and there is a messed up situation all around you, things need to be settled as soon as possible.
You might not have thought of them earlier but this is when you should start thinking! It is important to understand that the path of life is full of ups and downs. Things won’t go smooth all the time, yet you have to pass through each phase that comes in your life.
Although it gets really difficult to control things and set them right into their places once again in such serious situations, you still need to do it, to make sure that things are going fine. The real skill of an individual lies when he/she manages things properly in the mess. That’s where your specialization lies!
