In daily life we must see that it is not happiness that makes us grateful, but gratefulness that makes us happy. - David Steindl-Rast

There are people who tend to get happy just by possessing a lot of things. For such kind of people, belongingness really matters a lot! However, that shouldn’t be the scenario in ideal cases, although such cases are extremely rare.

Riches, fame, and possessions matter for such people, and that is what makes them happy! They think that happiness makes them great, and happiness in this context seems to be derived from material pleasures.

Taking a different account of the life, we can say that it is gratefulness that it can actually make us happy. Doing something for the welfare of others is not common, but that gives a different taste of gratefulness altogether. Not everyone is capable enough to taste that! Gratefulness can actually make one happy though it’s not that common, and not everyone has got a heart to do so!

Spending a portion of your income for serving the poor and the needy might seem to be easy, but not all of us have got a heart to do so! It is not about being rich, or how much you earn, it is all about having a heart that favors doing so! There are several rich people who might earn in billions but spend most of it for their own sake or luxury.

On the contrary, there could be a man from a middle-income source background yet has the heart to feed the underprivileged sections or do something good for the others. Gratitude is one of the most important elements that can help you relish your life and add a new layer to it.

When you do good, you tend to have positive emotions running inside you, and that will eventually help you strengthen your relationships with people around you. According to psychological studies, it is said that gratitude is strongly linked with happiness.
