You become what you believe, not what you think or what you want. – Oprah Winfrey
All of us follow a set of principles that guide us in life. At the same time, all of us have various dreams and desires as we proceed in life. They might change over time but all of us live to achieve something. We also idolize people as we grow up and want to become like them. Their personalities and their actions inspire us.
If we introspect, we will definitely realize that the person you actually become is not because of your wants or your thoughts but what you actually believe in. Your principles shape you. Your inspirations inspire you. That reflects in your actions because it is what appeals to you, and you understand that with all your heart.
Therefore, it is essential that we constantly keep in check what our beliefs are. We should be in touch with ourselves and always track if any changes happen. If the changes are positive, then foster them. If the changes are negative, then put in all efforts to eradicate it.
Never let negative thoughts consume you. Remember, what you believe is what directs and guides you all along and your personality is influenced by that. Always try to improve where you can and indulge in good deeds. They give you satisfaction and joy like nothing else.
You might feel that your thoughts and desires overtake your principles while guiding you to be the person you become. But that is not the case. It is mainly the summation of your beliefs and principles that act as the guiding light in life.
