Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards. - Soren Kierkegaard

In life, if you ever want to take the lessons, you need to go back and see your experiences. It is only when you look back and see all that you have undergone in these years that you ultimately get to know that you have won and all that you have lost.

Even if you had several bad experiences in your life, you are sure to have lessons that would help you grow in the coming years, thereby making sure that you are not repeating the same mistake all over again.

While you should look back to gain knowledge from the experiences that you had in all those years, you need to understand that you can no way hold onto that and keep on nagging all the time.

This is because your clinging onto the past will not allow you to go back in time and make any change.

Hence, you should always live forward, and stay focused on the present and try to make a better future.

In a nutshell, while the past life gives us the best lessons and morals, it is the ‘future’ that teaches us about how to live ahead, so that we can stay good, and live happily.

You should always take lessons from the past and work out to make your present better, and thus, implement those lessons in the future as well to ensure that none of your mistakes are repeated.
